What do Scouts get up to?

Scouts get the chance to take on bigger challenges and become more independent. A normal term could include navigation, cooking, pioneering, first aid, hiking, water activities, team challenges or learning a completely new skill.

Camps and nights away are a big part of Scouts too, giving young people the chance to put their skills into practice, work together and enjoy adventures away from the usual meeting place.

Scouts in uniform

Scouts uniform

Scouts wear a teal green shirt or blouse with their group scarf, with badges added as they earn them.

You don’t need to arrive in full uniform on your first night. Once your child has settled in, the Scouts website has a useful guide showing where each badge should go.

A volunteer leader with Scouts

Could you help our Scouts?

1st Warfield is run by volunteers, and Scouts is no different. You don’t need previous Scouting experience and you don’t have to commit to helping every week.

Whether you can help regularly, come along to camps and activities, or share a particular skill with the Troop, every bit of help makes a difference.

Moving up to Explorers

When the time comes to move on from Scouts, the next adventure is Explorer Scouts.

Young people usually move on around their 14th birthday, where they can continue developing their skills, independence and appetite for adventure.

When and where do we meet?

We meet on Thursday evenings between 7:00 pm and 8:30 pm at Westmorland Park Pavilion.

We also like to get out and about for activities, camps, trips and events whenever we can, so occasionally we’ll meet somewhere different.
